Centre for Development in Action West Bengal Chapter

CENTRE FOR DEVELOPMENT IN ACTION WEST BENGAL CHAPTER was started as a collective initiative and dream to bring about substantial change and innovativeness in the realization of human potentials. Developing the quality of human lives is possible only when every individual involved in the process realizes his/her own potential and utilizes the power from within for their self development. The focus of the organization since its inception revolves around the three primary areas- health, education & Livelihood cross-cutting through empowerment, gender equity, human rights & environmental sustainability. These are issues that impact in more than field - since wealth and wellbeing in a given region are generally affected by a series of interconnected factors.
The organization was started in with the name Center for Development in Action of Naktala Road as a society in the year 2002. A year after its formation it was renamed as Center for Development in Action West Bengal Chapter. Currently the organization is working in West Bengal only with some support technical being provided to some organizations outside West Bengal. In the state we are operating from the registered office with some animators utilizing the local resources available from the project locations. Till date we have received tremendous support from third party donors but as the span of the organization is increasing we are in the process of mobilizing Government and Corporate resources.

Vision
Center for Development in Acton West Bengal Chapter, envisions a developed, empowered and healthy community through sustainable development initiatives for the concern of those who come last. CDA’s commitment is to work as an initiative catalyst in promoting community development alternatives.

Mission
Center for Development in Acton West Bengal Chapter, is a non-profit, non-government legally incorporated entity committed to work with the lesser privileged section of the community by supporting their social, economic and cultural development in bringing a positive difference in their lives.
The society initiates partnership in every sustainable solution possible to the concern of the marginalized through providing technical cooperation, assisting them in achieving their highest potential, at the state or national level designed to facilitate efforts in improving the quality of life as a whole.

Future Strategy
The organization dreams of a society where every individual realizes their own potential for their own sustainable development through constant learning in the process. It’s our desire to create a society where every individual lives with the head held high with dignity and empowerment. Every individual enjoys the common minimum requisites to live a healthy life.
The organization plans to set up model villages where every aspect of individual growth is taken care of by the people themselves. There are plans to set up smaller livelihood generation units in villages which will have income generating projects to aid the rehabilitation process of people in distress.
We in CDA also desire to set up small units of Information Centers to cater to the population of Youth and Women, which will render them a new avenue for self development in terms of right information at the right time from the right place.
But still, dreams are big at Center for Development in Action. The organization hopes to have their own Research & training resource center someday, which would create an opportunity to help build up capacities of individuals and empower them to develop themselves as living institutions to carry on with the intention of building others in the process.
